Disney Lorcana card rarities are easy to read once you know where to look: a small symbol at the bottom center of every card. This guide explains all nine tiers collectors deal with in 2027, from the grey circle on a Common to Enchanted, Iconic and the brand-new serialized Illustrious cards in Into the Inkdark. You'll also learn how the collector number gives away a rare card, and what's actually inside a booster pack.
Lorcana card rarities at a glance
From most common to rarest. Symbols for the five base rarities follow Gfinity's guide and were checked against card scans; everything else is from Ravensburger's own announcements.
Rarity | How to spot it | Since | How many per set |
|---|---|---|---|
Common | Grey circle | The First Chapter (2023) | Most of the set |
Uncommon | White book | The First Chapter | Many |
Rare | Bronze triangle | The First Chapter | Many |
Super Rare | Silver diamond | The First Chapter | Fewer |
Legendary | Gold pentagon | The First Chapter | Fewer still |
Epic | Frameless art, rainbow foil, holofoil symbol, tinted text | Fabled (Sep 5, 2025) | 18 (Ravensburger) |
Enchanted | Full alternate art with Inkwash foil, rainbow hexagon | The First Chapter | 12 in the first set (Ravensburger) |
Iconic | Full-card art, lore-star foil, 3D hot stamping | Fabled | 2 (Ravensburger) |
Illustrious | Serialized, bespoke art, Collector Boosters only | Into the Inkdark (Feb 12, 2027) | 6, with 23 copies of each (Ravensburger) |

How do you read a Lorcana card's rarity?
Check the bottom edge of the card. The rarity symbol sits in the middle of the bottom border (Wargamer). In the bottom-left corner you'll find the collector number, the language and the set number, written like 42/204 · EN · 1 on a card from The First Chapter or 227/204 · EN · 9 on one from Fabled, the ninth set.
The collector number tells you more than you'd think:
- The second number is the size of the main set. Most sets have 204 cards; Attack of the Vine! has 207.
- A first number above the set total means a special rarity. Enchanted cards have always been numbered "over 204" (Ravensburger).
- The order after 204 follows the rarity. In Fabled, Epic cards come first (Elsa – Snow Queen is 210/204), then Enchanted (Winnie the Pooh – Hunny Wizard is 227/204), and the two Iconics close the set at 241 and 242. In Attack of the Vine! the Iconics are 244 and 245 of 207.

The five base rarities
Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare and Legendary make up the main numbered set, and they've been in every set since The First Chapter debuted at Gen Con in 2023. Each has its own symbol, and the shapes gain corners as the cards get rarer (Gfinity, updated Feb 4, 2026):
- Common: a grey circle. These fill most of every pack.
- Uncommon: a small white shape that looks like an open book. Some guides describe it differently, so go by the color and position if you're unsure.
- Rare: a bronze triangle.
- Super Rare: a silver diamond.
- Legendary: a gold pentagon. Legendary cards still use the standard card frame, so the symbol is the quickest way to tell them apart.
Any of these can also turn up as a foil, the shiny version that takes the foil slot in a pack. A foil keeps its rarity symbol, so a foil Common is still a Common.

Epic: the frameless rarity
An Epic card is a frameless, rainbow-foil version of a card, with a holofoil symbol and tinted text. Ravensburger added Epic with Fabled in September 2025, and every set since has 18 of them (Ravensburger, Aug 4, 2025).
Epic sits between Legendary and Enchanted: rarer than a Legendary, but Ravensburger says Epic cards appear more often than Enchanted ones (Ravensburger, May 2025).
Enchanted: the original chase rarity
An Enchanted card is a full-art version of a card with alternate artwork and a foil treatment Ravensburger calls Inkwash (Ravensburger). It plays exactly like the regular version, so there's no game advantage.
Enchanted was Lorcana's "mysterious sixth rarity" at launch, with 12 cards in The First Chapter, and it stayed the top rarity until 2025. Every pack can contain one, but Ravensburger has never published how often. The first set's Elsa – Spirit of Winter is still the most valuable card from The First Chapter: Near Mint copies sold for $856–$862 (raw, English, TCGplayer sales history, Sep 15–30, 2026).
Iconic: two per set
An Iconic card is the rarest card you can pull from a standard booster. Ravensburger says Iconic cards are "extremely rare with only two appearing in each set" (Ravensburger, May 2025). They have full-card artwork, a lore-star foil pattern and 3D hot stamping (Ravensburger, Aug 28, 2025).
The first pair, in Fabled, was Mickey Mouse – Brave Little Prince and Minnie Mouse – Sweetheart Princess. Each set since has added two more, so twelve existed by the end of 2026.
Illustrious and Collector Boosters
Illustrious is the newest and rarest Lorcana rarity, starting with Into the Inkdark on February 12, 2027 (Disney Lorcana; ICv2). According to Ravensburger (Sep 22, 2026):
- Illustrious cards are the first serialized Lorcana cards: each copy is individually numbered.
- There are six per set, and only 23 copies of each are printed.
- They feature bespoke art by popular artists, extra embellishments and a prominent artist credit.
- They're found only in Collector Boosters.
A Collector Booster is a new kind of pack: 12 cards, the same count as a regular booster, but every card is foil and the chance of an Enchanted or Iconic is much higher than in a standard pack. They're sold at select Ravensburger Play Hub stores and at Disney Parks and stores, not everywhere boosters are sold. If you're shopping for one, our TCG release calendar has the dates, and our booster box vs bundle vs ETB guide explains how the usual sealed products compare.
What's in a Lorcana booster pack?
A standard Lorcana booster has 12 cards (Ravensburger). Wargamer's breakdown of a pack is 6 Commons, 3 Uncommons, 2 cards that are Rare, Super Rare or Legendary, and 1 foil card of any rarity (Wargamer).
That foil slot is where the big surprises usually come from, because it can be any rarity. Collector Boosters swap the whole idea around: all 12 cards are foil.

Are promo cards a rarity?
No. Promo cards come from events, products and organized play, and they're marked with a promo set code such as P1, P2 or D23 rather than a normal rarity symbol (Lorcana Card List). Some are very hard to find, but they sit outside the pack rarity ladder.
Does a rarer card mean a more valuable card?
Usually, but the character matters just as much. Iconic cards top the price lists because there are only two per set, and fan favorites like Mickey, Minnie, Pooh and Elsa sell for more at every rarity. Fabled's Minnie Mouse – Sweetheart Princess Iconic, for example, had recent Near Mint sales of $2,450–$4,200 (raw, English, TCGplayer sales history, Jul 18 – Oct 2, 2026). Our most valuable Lorcana cards list has real sold prices for every Iconic and the top Enchanteds.
