Delta Reign lands on November 6, and for most collectors it comes down to one Pokémon: Mega Rayquaza ex. This guide covers what we know four days before release: the chase cards (confirmed and expected), what the odds look like per pack and per box, and which product gets you the most packs for your money. We'll re-price everything two and six weeks after launch.

Delta Reign chase cards at a glance

The full English card list isn't public yet. The table mixes cards confirmed in English with cards expected because they appear in the Japanese set Storm Emeralda, which TCGplayer says Delta Reign is based on (TCGplayer, Oct 22, 2026).

Confirmed English card numbers come from the reveal log in the Elite Fourum release thread (reveals dated Aug 20 – Sep 28, 2026). Japanese numbers come from Samurai Sword Tokyo's Storm Emeralda list (Oct 23, 2026). Aarune is the English name of the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire character called ギリー in Japanese (Bulbapedia); SNKRDUNK's English site lists the Japanese SAR under that name (SNKRDUNK). English numbers for the five expected SIRs and the gold card haven't been published yet, so treat those rows as expected until release day.

What's in the set

Pokémon's announcement promises more than 135 cards, including over 20 Trainers and more than 35 cards with special illustrations (Pokémon, Aug 20, 2026). Collector trackers fill in a bit more:

  • The numbered main set runs to 103, ending with Zinnia's Trust at 103/103 (Cardrake, updated Oct 27, 2026).
  • Above that come 14 Illustration Rares, 17 Ultra Rares and 6 Special Illustration Rares, the counts listed in the Elite Fourum thread since June. That's 37 cards numbered from 104, plus the gold Rayquaza if it follows the Mega Evolution pattern. The final count won't be public until the set is out.
  • Four new Mega Evolution Pokémon ex headline the set: Mega Rayquaza ex, Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex and Mega Golisopod ex.
  • There's a new card type, the Legendary Stadium: two Stadium cards that are played together, and packs that contain one include both halves, so you never have to hunt for the second half (TCGplayer, Oct 22, 2026).

If you're new to terms like SIR or Mega Hyper Rare, our rarity explainer, coming later this month, covers every symbol.

The chase cards, one by one

Mega Rayquaza ex (gold)

The Mega Evolution era replaced the old gold Hyper Rares with gold, front-facing Mega Hyper Rares: Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex in the first set, Mega Darkrai ex in Pitch Black. Japan's Storm Emeralda has one for Rayquaza (MUR 113/076). Expect the English version to be the hardest card in the set to pull. TCGplayer measured the Mega Hyper Rare in Pitch Black at roughly 1 in 1,081 packs (TCGplayer, Jul 21, 2026).

A note on early prices: in Japan, SNKRDUNK's release-day guide put the Japanese card at ¥300,000 (estimated market value, raw, Jul 31, 2026) (SNKRDUNK). Three months later, the lowest asks on SNKRDUNK's English site were $260 raw in any condition, $349 raw in top (A) condition and $1,332 for a PSA 10 (Japanese card, asking prices in USD, Oct 29, 2026) (SNKRDUNK). Release-week prices for a headline card are usually the highest they'll be for a while.

Mega Rayquaza ex Special Illustration Rare

The full-card art version of Rayquaza is the SIR most collectors will want. For the Japanese card, the lowest asks on SNKRDUNK's English site were $127 raw in any condition and $156 raw in top (A) condition, with PSA 10 copies from $432 (asking prices in USD, Oct 29, 2026) (SNKRDUNK). Its English card number hasn't been revealed, and English prices will start from scratch on November 6.

Raikou ex Special Illustration Rare (136/103)

The only SIR already confirmed in English. A legendary beast in full-card art is a safe bet to stay popular with collectors whatever happens to its price. The Japanese version's lowest ask was $21 raw in top (A) condition on SNKRDUNK's English site (asking price, Oct 29, 2026) (SNKRDUNK).

The rest of the SIRs

Zinnia's Trust, Mega Golisopod ex, Mega Golurk ex and the Supporter Aarune round out the six SIRs, if the English set mirrors Japan's. They're the cards that make a master set expensive, but they're also where you'll find art you love at a fraction of Rayquaza's price.

Illustration Rares worth a look

Illustration Rares are the full-art versions of regular Pokémon. Confirmed reveals so far include Eevee (114/103), Masquerain, Sprigatito, Growlithe and Pincurchin (Elite Fourum). At about 1 in 9 packs for any IR, these are the "hits" you'll actually see. One IR you won't find in packs: Kyogre, the promo that comes with the Elite Trainer Box (MEP 117).

Delta Reign pull rates: what to expect

TCGplayer hasn't published measured Delta Reign pull rates yet. The best guide is the rates its Authentication Center measured for Pitch Black (4,000+ English packs, July 2026), which it says look "identical" to Phantasmal Flames, Perfect Order and Chaos Rising. Pitch Black is also close to Delta Reign in structure: 6 SIRs, one Mega Hyper Rare, and similar Ultra Rare and Illustration Rare counts.

Per-pack rates: TCGplayer, Jul 21, 2026. Box columns are our own math, assuming each pack is independent. Real boxes can be packed differently, and the Mega Hyper Rare figure has a wide margin of error.

Bar chart of the chance of pulling at least one of each rarity in a 36-pack Delta Reign booster box: Double Rare over 99%, Illustration Rare about 98%, Ultra Rare about 96%, any Special Illustration Rare about 36%, one specific SIR about 7% and the gold Mega Hyper Rare about 3%
Odds per 36-pack box, from TCGplayer's measured Pitch Black rates (Jul 21, 2026). Delta Reign's own rates aren't published yet.

What that means in plain terms:

  • A booster box will give you hits. Around 15 cards from the Double Rare, Ultra Rare and Illustration Rare slots combined, on average.
  • It probably won't give you an SIR. About two boxes in three come up empty on SIRs.
  • The gold Rayquaza is a lottery ticket. At these rates you'd need to open around 30 boxes to expect one on average. For comparison, TCGplayer measured the first Mega Evolution set's two Mega Hyper Rares at about 1 in 1,260 packs (TCGplayer, Sep 30, 2025).

We'll swap in real Delta Reign rates once TCGplayer or a large community sample publishes them.

Contents and presale Market Prices: TCGplayer Buyer's Guide, Oct 22, 2026. Retail (MSRP) for the ETB, Booster Bundle and Build & Battle Box: TCGplayer seller blog, Oct 21, 2026, which lists no MSRP for the blisters. Booster box, Booster Bundle and Pokémon Center ETB prices are also on Pokémon Center's own store (box, bundle, Pokémon Center ETB, checked Oct 29, 2026). Per-pack figures are our own division and don't value promos or accessories.

Bar chart of presale price per pack by Delta Reign product: booster box about $6.70, booster bundle $11.00, Elite Trainer Box $11.70, three-pack blister $12.00, Build & Battle Box $17.00, single-pack blister $20.00 and Pokémon Center ETB $31.80
Price per pack: TCGplayer presale Market Price (Oct 22, 2026) divided by the packs inside. Promos and accessories aren't valued.

A few things stand out:

  • Presale prices are not retail prices. The standard ETB is $49.99 at retail, while presale listings were around double that on October 22. If you can buy at retail on release day, do. If you can't, it may be worth waiting: TCGplayer expects the ETB's price to slide in the weeks after release, given how many print waves recent sets have had.
  • Booster boxes are the cheapest packs, but 36 packs is a big upfront spend.
  • The Pokémon Center ETB is a collector's item, not a way to buy packs. At presale prices each pack costs about five times what it does in a booster box.
  • The Build & Battle Box is the best deal at retail if your local store runs a prerelease: four packs, a promo and a playable deck for $21.99.

Open packs or buy singles?

Ask yourself what you want at the end.

  • You want the fun of opening. Set a budget, pick the lowest cost-per-pack product you can get near retail, and treat every SIR as a bonus. Opening is the hobby; it doesn't have to "pay off".
  • You want one specific card. Buy the single. At about 7% per box for a specific SIR, you could open several boxes and still miss it.
  • You want the master set. Start with packs for the commons, uncommons and reverse holos, then buy the Ultra Rares, IRs and SIRs you're missing as singles once prices settle.

Opening packs mostly means a stack like this of regular cards; the hits are a handful per box. Card backs look the same in every set, so these aren't Delta Reign cards. Photo: Giorgio Trovato on Unsplash

After release we'll follow up with a breakdown of what a Delta Reign booster box returns on average, based on real English sold prices.

FAQ

When does Delta Reign come out?

November 6, 2026, for the English set. Prerelease events started on October 24, and the Build & Battle Box reaches general retail on November 20.

What is the rarest card in Delta Reign?

Expected to be the gold Mega Rayquaza ex. In recent Mega Evolution sets, the Mega Hyper Rare has turned up in roughly 1 of every 1,000–1,300 packs. Its English rarity and number will be confirmed on release day.

Is Delta Reign the same as Storm Emeralda?

Mostly. Delta Reign is based on the Japanese set Storm Emeralda (released in Japan on July 31, 2026), but English sets often add or move cards, and the Kyogre Illustration Rare is an ETB promo in English. Japanese packs have 5 cards; English packs have 10.

How many packs are in a Delta Reign booster box?

36 packs. The Elite Trainer Box has 9, the Pokémon Center ETB has 11 and the Booster Bundle has 6.

What are the odds of pulling a Special Illustration Rare?

Based on Pitch Black's measured rates, about 1 in 80 packs for any SIR, or roughly a 36% chance per 36-pack box. Delta Reign-specific rates aren't out yet.
